once:radix now offers extended support for Web 2.0 applications with the release of their Web Application Programming Interface (API).
The owebAPI provides access to the once:radix server from virtually any web server. This allows conventional browser applications with pages built in a range of technologies such as HTML, PHP, JSP, Python and Perl to retrieve as well as submit data to the once:radix back-end PostgreSQL database.
Functions supported include:
While fully-fuctional Rich Internet Business Applications will continue to need the fast drill-downs and powerful analysis and reporting tools of the full client (oCLI), external users (i.e. customers and suppliers) can access this basic level of functionality from any browser – including portable computers and phones.
This provides most of the functionality likely to be needed by low-level users. Logging on to a separate webserver that is linked to the once:radix server could be as simple as entering a customer name, city and PIN or consignment note number and post/zip code.
